It was a pleasure to welcome Samantha Norgate, Business and Community Fundraising Coordinator for Kangaroos Charity, to our monthly Priory Law Team meeting. As many of you know, we are proud members of Kanga’s Business Club and we wanted to take the opportunity learn more about Kangaroos Charity and their fun disability clubs – learning more about what they do, and how we could get even more involved.
Before we dive into sharing more about Kangaroos, perhaps you’re thinking about getting involved in a charity and working out the benefits for you, your team, and your business – as well as supporting a wonderful cause. Whether you are tempted to join us as part of Kanga’s Business Club, or perhaps support another local charity – we wanted to share why we love being involved.
Why get involved?
One of the key values at Priory Law is Caring. It’s a hard value to quantify – and that could, on the face of it, feel a little bit fluffy. We often talk about how much we care for our team, each other, our clients and about our industry – all of this is true. When you have a team who are recruited with this attribute it feels that there must be more, that’s it vital to give back to our local community. We are taking our first steps (or hops!!) with Kangaroos – but it’s already having an impact on all of the team – they love that we have made the decision to support a brilliant charity. If we can do anything through this blog it would be to make you think about giving back and getting involved – we can promise you, you will love it!
When we were looking to support a charity, we were looking for something that was local, that resonated with the team, a small charity that was looking to grow. Anne-Marie heard about Kangaroos (she saw a presentation from Samantha) learning how they supported children and adults with learning disabilities, as well as supporting their whole family. The tipping point for us was that they offer ‘lifelong’ support – there isn’t a cut off, we just loved that!
In our meeting this week we learnt even more about Kangaroos, and we were blown away by all that they do (just take a look at the image below highlighting all their clubs) – it is simply incredible, supporting not just children and adults with learning disabilities but supporting the whole family. We were all touched by the support they offer siblings.
Why not get involved with Kangaroos – and their amazing Kanga’s Business Club. We are looking at even more ways to support this amazing charity throughout 2025 and look forward to sharing more with you as we progress through the year – watch this space!
