Moving Day Tips: How Moversaurus Makes Moving Simpler

Practical Moving Day Tips from Moversaurus

Moving home rarely comes down to just one company. Alongside your conveyancer, there's usually an estate agent, a mortgage adviser, and, at some point, someone to actually move your belongings. That last part is easy to underestimate until it goes wrong, a removals team that rushes the loading, doesn't know how to handle a specialist item, or disappears the moment the last box is through the door.

It's one of the reasons we're happy to recommend Moversaurus Removals & Storage.

Moversaurus is a Sussex-based removal company operating across Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and the wider South East. Founded in 2008, the team has over 100 years of combined removals experience. Most removal companies move boxes.

Moversaurus move people from one home to the next, and understanding that difference, boxes versus a home, is exactly what shows up in the care they take. Everything is packed methodically and in a specific order. Vehicles are loaded to prevent movement in transit, since that's what actually causes damage, not the move itself, with the heaviest furniture at the bottom and the lighter, more fragile items on top. Floor runners and carpet protectors go down to protect the property, and anything fragile, screens, monitors, ornaments, even a child's (or adult’s) Lego build, gets individually wrapped and boxed rather than loaded loose.

And if you do have something a little more unusual to move, a hot tub, a chandelier, a piece of artwork, Moversaurus has a specific process and the right equipment for each of them. Every member of the team is trained to handle these items, which means a client doesn't need to bring in three or four different specialists alongside their removals company. One team, one point of contact, the whole house.

What stood out most to us, though, wasn't the equipment. It was what happens on the day itself. When a client gets the keys to a new home, Moversaurus deliberately gives them 10 to 15 minutes alone in the property before anything is carried in, so the moment they've been working towards for months doesn't get swallowed by boxes coming through the door. Once everything's unloaded, the team walks the property with the client, room by room, to check everything's where they want it. Two days later, they call to check their client is genuinely settled and to collect the boxes.

Moversaurus Storage

Unfortunately sometimes chains collapse, this is why we offer two secure storage locations for our clients. We will bring our storage pods to you, load them on site, inventory all your items to the corresponding pod and securely lock the containers. This gives clients peace of mind and a service they can trust.

Russell's advice for a smoother moving day

Looking for practical moving day tips, about how to plan ahead, avoid last-minute problems and make moving day feel calmer and more manageable?

  • Book your survey 4 to 8 weeks before your move date so you can budget for your move and understand the moving process.
  • Flag specialist items, hot tubs, chandeliers, anything unusually heavy or awkward, at the quote stage, so the right protection and equipment can be planned in advance.
  • Book your removal slot once you have a completion date, rather than before, dates in conveyancing can move, and holding a van on a date that later shifts adds stress rather than saving it.
  • If you can, ask for those 10 to 15 minutes alone in your new home before the unload starts. It genuinely changes how the day feels, this is what you’ve worked so hard for. Enjoy the feeling.
  • Keep a list of anything you want moved or adjusted after the initial unload. The walkthrough at the end of the move, and the follow-up call, are there specifically to catch this.

By following these moving day tips and working with an experienced removals company, you can make the final stage your move feel calmer, more organised and far less stressful.

In Russell's words

"We built Moversaurus on trust, the trust our clients give us to move their home and look after everything that's precious to them. That's not just getting boxes from one address to another, it's putting everything back into place in the new home, exactly where it belongs. For some people, that trust means an antique chandelier. For others, it's a set of mugs that just happen to mean the world to them. Removals isn't one size fits all, it's personal, and we treat it that way. We're there to support our clients every step of the way, not just to drop everything off and leave."

Frequently asked questions

When should I book my removals company?

First and foremost we need to conduct a survey of your property, we suggest 6 – 8 weeks before your move so you have time to budget. As soon as you have a completion date call us and we can advise if that works. Booking too early, before dates are confirmed, can cause more disruption if things shift, which they often do.

What happens after the move is finished?

Moversaurus carries out a full walkthrough with you on the day, then calls 48 hours later to check everything is settled and to collect any boxes used.

Does Moversaurus handle specialist items like hot tubs or chandeliers?

Yes. The whole team is trained to handle specialist items, so clients don't need separate specialist companies alongside their removal firm.

Does Priory Law get paid for this recommendation?

No. See the note below.

What if I'd rather use a different removals company?

That's entirely your choice. We share this recommendation because we trust it, you're always free to choose your own provider.
