Careers in Conveyancing: Routes, Apprenticeships & Reigate College Event

careers in conveyancing event Reigate College

Priory Law was delighted to attend the 2026 Careers Event at Reigate College, meeting students, parents and lecturers to talk about careers in conveyancing and the different routes into the profession.

It was a wonderful opportunity to support our local community and speak with young people at an important stage in their decision-making. Reigate College created a welcoming and engaging environment where students could explore career options, ask thoughtful questions and discover pathways they may not have previously considered.

Careers in conveyancing: routes into the profession

During the careers event, one of the most encouraging things we noticed was the level of interest in apprenticeships, vocational training and “earn while you learn” opportunities. There is often an assumption that a legal career must begin with a university degree, but conveyancing offers several different routes into the profession.

At Priory Law, we understand this first-hand. Anne-Marie Fowler, Managing Director, and Ryan Letts, Director and Head of Legal Practice, both trained on the job and qualified as Licensed Conveyancers. Their careers show that practical experience, specialist training and dedication can lead to senior legal and leadership roles.

“I really enjoyed speaking with students and parents at Reigate College about the different routes into conveyancing. There was genuine interest in the profession, especially around apprenticeships and training while working.”
Ryan Letts, Director and Head of Legal Practice

We were especially proud to have Cara representing Priory Law at the event. Cara is currently training to become a Licensed Conveyancer while continuing to support clients and the wider team in her role at Priory Law. She was able to speak from a current and relatable perspective, helping students understand what it is like to train, study and work within conveyancing at the same time.

The conversations also highlighted how little many people know about conveyancing as a profession. While most people are familiar with buying and selling homes, fewer understand the legal work that sits behind every property transaction. Conveyancing is a specialist area of law that requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, communication skills and genuine care for clients.

Technology, AI and the future of conveyancing

The event also gave us the opportunity to talk about how technology and AI are beginning to shape the future of conveyancing. While property law will always need skilled people, careful judgement and strong client care, modern systems are helping firms work more efficiently, communicate more clearly and improve the client experience. At Priory Law, innovation is an important part of how we work, not to replace the human side of conveyancing, but to support it.

It is a career that supports people through some of the biggest moments in their lives, from buying a first home to moving for family, work or a new chapter. That is why careers events like this matter. They help students see beyond traditional routes into law and understand that there are different ways to build a meaningful career. Whether someone chooses a university route towards becoming a solicitor, or follows specialist training to become a Licensed Conveyancer, residential property law offers real purpose, progression and opportunity.

Thank you to Reigate College for hosting such a valuable and well-organised careers event. It was a pleasure to meet so many engaged students, supportive parents and committed lecturers, and to help shine a light on conveyancing as a career with real possibility.
